Virtual Tours: See the Seven Wonders
Take in the new Seven Wonders of the World with these incredible virtual tours on The New York Times. Travel to The Great Wall of China, Machu Picchu, the Taj Mahal, the Colosseum, ancient Petra, Chichen Itza and Christ the Redeemer from your sofa. Want to experience interplanetary travel? TV Show: Amazing Hotels
With new episodes now released, Giles Coren and Monica Galetti take us on a tour of the most gorgeous hotels in the world. The best thing is that the duo is then employed by the hotel to get a real ‘experience’ of how luxurious places operate. A recent show covered our very own Swinton Estate in Yorkshire and the fascinating story behind it. Watch the series on BBC iPlayer.
Podcast: Holly Rubenstein
Love podcasts? For an inspirational travel podcast, Holly chats to travel experts, hoteliers, chefs, journalists and adventurers about their favourite journeys and travel history. Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall talks about secret coastal spots in Cornwall and his most eventful trip. Tune in here.
Book and Film: Eat, Pray, Love
The theme to Elizabeth Gilbert’s book – Eat, Pray, Love – may be more spiritually inclined but it is one of those books that is certain to whisk you away to exotic destinations. Starting in the US, it traverses Italy, India and Indonesia as the main protagonist finds enlightenment along the way. Curl up with the book or follow Julia Roberts journey (and swoon over beautiful Bali scenes) in the film.
